After a great experience with Chris remodeling our bathroom, he was our first choice to makeover our basement. The semi-finished area was completely gutted and rebuilt. The finished product includes a hardwood floor, plastered walls and ceiling with recessed lighting. Chris also figured out a way to add a full bath could be installed in this tight area. The new family room provides a terrific new living area. Chris will continue to be our choice for any future projects.

My husband and I were extremely pleased with the work Chris and his crew did for our kitchen renovation. Chris kept the area extremely clean during the entire project. He was able to come up with creative solutions that met our needs. Chris was also very easy to work with and consulted with us to make sure the lighting, floors, and cabinets came out exactly as we wanted them. Chris Sherriff is great! He remodeled our only full bath. He was able to rig us a tub/shower after just a week. We were also moving the wall that separates bath and master bedroom to gain space for the bath. It was a big job. We interviewed several contractors. Chris was the only one that spent a significant amount of time with me trying to figure out the design AND his costs were reasonable.
He started when he said he would start. He came every day at the time he said he would and he called if he was going to be 15 minutes late. Lastly, he completed the project exactly when he said he would and there were some delays with plumbing fixtures, etc. (nothing to do with him). Do you know a contractor that operates this professionally? I certainly don't.
He is meticulously neat. I swear he ran his commerical vac each time he made a cut with his saw. He had plastic barriers up and would clean the entire area everyday. I never dealt with dust everywhere as I have on previous projects. It was very easy to live here with a major construction project happening. I should also mention he used HEPA filters and was very careful about air quality. Very important to us as we have a 4 year old.
I can't say enough about Chris from his professional manner to the quality of his work. It was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor and we have had multiple projects in this house, including a gut and remodel of the kitchen. He's fantastic! Anne-Marie in Arlington

I have been doing business with Chris for about five years and referred him to friends and family as well, and never in all that time have had anything but praise and the highest compliments about his craftsmanship and work ethic. Chris was here this week doing some repairs and installing crown moldings and chair rails and I couldn't be more pleased with the finished product. If you're going to invest your hard earned money in your home, why not get it done correctly and to your satisfaction without the worry of getting ripped off by fly-by-nighters or by a guy who-knows-a-guy, etc. You will get a fair price and the highest quality work. What else could you ask for? Call him and get it done, you won't be sorry.

We hired Chris Sherriff to remodel our bathroom and remove a sink that was in our bedroom (must have been the cool thing to have in the 80s when our townhouse was built). When he initially came out, I liked him right away and he came back with a very reasonable estimate very quickly. The remodel involved replacing our toilet, vanity, mirror, lights and ripping up two layers of linoleum and putting down tile. He also took out the sink from our bedroom, cut off the pipe and put up sheet rock on the wall as well as put in a baseboard. Since we only have one shower, Chris did his work so that we could still shower everyday. It took him about 5-6 days total and he kept everything so clean and tidy. I can't say enough good things about him and will definitely use him again for any projects that come up as well as recommend him to friends. He also gave us a bottle of wine for Christmas, which was such a nice, unexpected surprise.

We had Sherriff Fine Building & Remodeling completely redo our bathroom and it came out terrific. The work was completed on time. Each day the work area was cleaned up, and the price was favorable. The results speak for themselves, perfect. After that we had Chris back to install a new kitchen exterior door, another great job. Once again, Chris to the rescue. As usual, I decided at the last minute to replace some drafty 30-year-old windows and called Chris to help me out before my oil burner, which never stops running, puts me in the poor house. He came over, took the measurements and expedited the windows from the factory. He installed my new ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS yesterday, painted the window trim so that not only are the windows new, but the trim looks new also. He always does that extra little bit of detail work that makes the difference between him and the rest of the crowd. His prices are always reasonable and he's very accommodating. I couldn't be more happy with the finished product.

We recently hired Chris to finish our attic. The project included adding electrical switches, re-routing some wires, blue boarding the walls, ripping out an existing knee wall and adding a floor that had to match the surrounding floor. Chris did a fantastic job. I was impressed by him during the initial estimate appointment - he paid attention to the tiny details that other contractors didn't take notice of, and made sure to include every piece of work that would be required into our estimate, so there were no surprises. He put a lot of effort into making sure our new flooring matched the old, and got the job done quickly and efficiently. This is the first time we've ever hired a contractor to do a better job that we could have done ourselves. I plan to hire him for our future projects and would recommend him to friends. It was a pleasure to have someone so skilled to work on my house - I was relieved to find someone I could trust so well.

Chris is amazing. My husband and I hired him to construct and put doors on our unfinished closets and to build a new closet, along with shelves in our second bedroom. Chris was fabulous. Not only did he do an impressive job, but he was professional, punctual, and affordable. (He also was great with our tow large Labrador retrievers). I can't say enough about how well the job came out. He also insulated our bedroom and helped us put up a large piece of art. Chris was also great about finding the right paint color for the inside of our home and took the liberty of touching up places in our second bedroom. Chris is also a lovely person and very easy to work with. He did the job in literally 5 days all by himself. I could not give him a better review. We intend to hire him to update our fireplace as well. Thank you Chris!!!

If you are looking for fine detailed work, call Chris Sherriff. He has done many projects at my house (put in French doors, ceiling moldings and other decorative moldings, and most recently tiled the back splash in my kitchen). If you want a perfect job, call Chris. He is a perfectionist and does the work like he is working on his own home. Our projects were relatively small, but he says he puts in bathrooms and remodels as well. He calls you back and shows up when he says he will!!!! This is refreshing. Oh..and he is neat...very neat. I will hire Chris again and recommend him to all my friends. Can't recommend him highly enough. Very happy with all of his work. Next, a new deck ?

Last year I hired Chris to finish my attic. He did such a great job that when we decided to have our sunroom completely re-hauled, we knew exactly who to call. Having Chris do the work on our house takes all the stress out of renovations because we know it's in good hands. During the quote, Chris is sure to inspect every detail and ask questions about things I hadn't thought of to make sure there were no surprise charges at the end of the job. Unlike many other contractors I've worked with who send a smart guy for the quote and send lazy dudes for the actual work, Chris works with you from start to finish - from the quote to the actual work and is present to oversee all sub-contracting. For those few items he doesn't install himself (electrical, plastering), he uses trustworthy, professional guys who do pristine work. Chris always makes sure that everything he works on is completely sound - after ripping up my siding to replace it, he found that the underlying structure had been more rotten than expected. Instead of ignoring it and covering it up, he took the extra time to completely replace the framing before continuing on. Even with a flat quote, he put in an extra week of work to replace my framing and doesn't cut corners with cheap materials. He takes pride in doing the best job possible and making the structure solid and low-maintenance. He puts up with my neurotic requests, like raising a window a couple of inches to be in line with the door header and bead-board on a cathedral ceiling, and takes care to do fine finish work that I hadn't though of, like the symmetrical placement of the new windows and siding decorations.

Chris worked closely with us to fine tune the design for our bathroom-remodeling project. His experience and advice improved the layout and gave us the open space we desired. His workmanship is first class and the end result is outstanding in every aspect. We have other projects in mind and Chris would be our hands down choice.

My husband and I started a complete bathroom remodel in January of 2010. We were turning a half bath into a full. By the time summer rolled around I was 6 months pregnant and had had it with the fact that my husband preferred fishing to getting the bathroom finished. We called Sherriff Fine Building & Remodeling and he came and gave us a quote to plaster the walls in the bathroom. It was completely reasonable and they did a fantastic job. I really appreciated the fact that they were able to keep the volume down while I tried to nap on my vacation and they got it all done in one (very) hot day.
